Soundpeats A6 Headphone Clips
I have enjoyed my new headphones (Soundpeats A6) for over the last year and a half. These are the first expensive headphones I have bought; However, daily use has caused the headphones to crack at the extenders. Because I regularly use them extended, there is less material to support the plastic.
Once I had noticed the cracking, I thought of ways to address it. The last thing I wanted was to buy another pair of headphones one year into ownership.
Though I initially sketched up a hinge clip I decided to go with a two-clip solution as I felt it would put the pieces under less stress. Modelling it up with my prior knowledge of clips, I came up with my first test piece.
After, I had gotten the tolerances correct I then decided that it needed to be refined to match the headphones. As my graphics teacher always says "Function comes before, style"
To start, I made the bottom piece curve so it flowed with the design. Following this I adjusted the length of the pieces as it stuck out too much from the sides of the headphones.
Then, with a print time of an hour and two satisfying clicks, it was finished.
Now I am 5 months into having the fix and I am happy to report that no further cracking has occurred and they remain my main headphones to this day.
