3 Must-know Lessons From the Farmers' Market
1. Be prepared:
Being prepared is crucial to a great market day. I had all my printing and 3D printing examples gathered and decided to sort the stall layout when I got there. However, a breakdown in communication left me without a Table or Gazebo. Luckily, I was lent a Gazebo by the organisers and had my dad drop me off two barrels and a plywood board for a table. Lesson? Make sure you iron out your communication and never assume that something is sorted.
2. Take pictures:
You need to take pictures! During the six hours I was there I only took a handful of pictures. Looking back this was a big missed opportunity. The farmer's market is an opportune place for content. And don't forget include yourself in your pictures! If you take heaps of pictures you can always delete them later! As well as this a video can't hurt!
3. Meet the community:
I really encourage you to walk around and learn about others' stalls. This is essential to growing the vibrant community at the farmers market! Walk around and introduce yourself! Remember if your starting out, you need to learn as much as you can. Personally, I observed others who did this to my stall and though I had a quick look at the start, I really needed to learn more about others' stalls.
Conclusion:
These have been my main lessons from the farmers market. If there is anything I've missed, I would love to hear advice from you in the comments!
